Fair Lane--The Home of Clara and Henry Ford is currently closed for renovations, but thanks to the generosity of the University and the Historic Ford Estates, the Fair Lane Music Guild is being allowed to use the Pool Room for these concerts.

The Fair Lane Music Guild continues its format of cafe seating and wonderful dessert concerts.
Doors will open and service will begin one half hour prior to the concerts.




Detroit Symphony String Trio -- The Magic of String Trio
Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 7:30 P.M.

The Guild’s season opens with a performance by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra String Trio, featuring violinist Yoonshin Song, violist Eric Nowlin and cellist Wei Yu.  The performance will feature beautiful works by Haydn, Beethoven and Dohnányi. This concert includes the annual Chancellor’s Reception, sponsored and hosted by UM-Dearborn Chancellor Daniel Little.  This performance will be held in memory of long-time Fair Land Music Guild patron Rosemary Jefferson.

Vanguard Chorale -- Sounds of the Season
Wednesday, November 29, 2017, 7:30 P.M.

Please join us for an evening of holiday music presented by Vanguard Chorale, directed by G. Kevin Dewey. The select ensemble of 24 singers from Vanguard Voices will be presenting the US premiere of Wassail! Carols of Comfort and Joy by British composer Alexander L'Estrange. This is a cantata of ancient and modern, sacred and secular, English carols, accompanied by a small Renaissance instrumental ensemble. Vanguard Chorale will also be giving the world premiere of The Garden of Love by Chris Cooley, and will lead the audience in an entertaining holiday singalong!



Sean Blackman's In Transit Trio --World Music Trio

(Note:  Due to restoration work in The Pool, this concert will be held in the Music Room. Seating will be limited to 75 guests, and there will be no refreshments served. But it will be a wonderful chance to see the progress of the restoration work in the Music Room!  Please let us know if you have mobility issues, as there are a few stairs down into the Music Room.)

The Guild is delighted to present Sean Blackman’s In Transit Trio. As an established world-music musician, Sean Blackman developed In Transit as a collaborative platform where performers from around the world come together to create and produce original music concerts, recordings and educational lectures on world music. The goal of In Transit is expanding the viewer’s knowledge and interest in international music and culture.



Gabe Bolkosky featuring the Phoenix Quartet -- The Art of the String Quartet: Music from the Great Quartet Literature Including Death and the Maiden

The season will conclude with Guild favorite Gabe Bolkosky featuring the Phoenix Quartet. Bolkosky is known for his versatility and sensitivity as a violinist and has been praised for his ability to "take audiences into his confidence and include them." For this concert Gabe will be filling the role of viola alongside these wonderful musicians. He is the executive director of The Phoenix Ensemble, a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a musical resource for artists and educational institutions, and directs the annual chamber music festivals PhoenixPhest and PhoenixPhest Grande. Gabe also maintains a private violin studio in Ann Arbor.

From the east
